As
part of our ongoing commitment to our community, PKS and its employees
are proud to volunteer, sit on various committees and even spear-head
their own non-profit organizations. Employees of PKS have chosen to
focus their involvement between two main charities, and also maintain
membership and volunteering with numerous others. Below is a list of
charities and organizations PKS employees are currently involved with.
Foundation
for Children with Atypical HUS
This organization, directed by Bill Biermann, CFO, is
propelled by three main goals:
1. Raising monies in order to fund medical research
2. Development of information and support materials for families suffering
from this disease
3. Increase public awareness through education
With over 27 core members and 600 yearly participants in various fundraisers,
this Foundation is growing and spreading it's message. Fundraising activities
include an annual Trivia Night, Shop-Til-You-Drop days, and PKS sponsors
several "Casual Days," for the cause as well.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri
PKS has sponsored several events with BBBS, including
the recent Making it Home project, Bowl For Kids' Sake, and more.
Each event sponsored by BBBS fuels their mission statement and raises
money to "match," volunteers with children. Additionally,
PKS employees are involved in the Friends Committee, and the Big Brother/Big
Sister program in which they mentor a young child.
